DEFINITION:
A moment of a force is the turning effect of the force about a pivot.
FORMULA:

force x perpendicular distance from pivot to the line of action of the force
= Force x Distance
= F x D

SI UNIT:

Newton metre / Nm
EXAMPLES:
(1)Opening a door by pulling its handle
(2)Turning a nut with a spanner
(3)Steering a car by turning its steering wheel.
(4)Playing on a see-saw
(5)Opening the lid of a tin using the end of a spoon

2 TYPES OF MOVEMENTS:
-Clockwise
-Anticlockwise

THE MOMENT OF FORCE DEPENDS ON:
-The magnitude of the force
-The perpendicular distance from the line of action of the force to the pivot

THE MOMENT OF A FORCE IS ALSO KNOWN AS:
Torque
